The Ogun State Commissioner for Health Dr. Babatunde Ipaye has said that over 13 thousand pregnant and children under 5 have been captured under the state Community Base Health Insurance Scheme (CBHIS) tagged “ARAYA”
Commissioner who disclosed this during a road side sensitisatiion exercise to further enlighteen and capture pregnant women and children that are less privilesged in the Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, said the campaign team would go round the 3 senatorial district of the state.
“We are here under the popular Sango-Ota bridge, to sensitise the good people of the state and at same tine register pregnant women and under Five children, as am speaking to you now, 13,000 persons have so far benefited from the scheme, as we also seeks to capture at list 3,000 per Local Government Areas across the state,” Ipaye said.
He said approximately 830 women die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth which makes maternal mortality rate higher in women living in rural areas and among poorer communities, adding that reducing the high rate of death in children and pregnant women was what ARAYA programme is set to addressed through CBHIS.
“ARAYA health insurance scheme is for under privileged pregnant women and children under age five in Ogun State and is targeted to save one million live” Commissioner said.
