The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has described the State budget town hall meeting as a practical expression of true democracy where people’s decision were recognized and appreciated in running the affairs of the State.
Amosun made this known today at the 2018 budget town hall meeting at the June 12 Cultural Centre, in Abeokuta Ogun State.
“The Town Hall Meetings have been genuine platforms where all opinions are not only explored, but are critically examined for the growth and development of our dear State,” Amosun remarked.
The governor pointed out that people oriented budget has been the priority of his government since inception adding that this has contributed immensely to the rebuilding mission.
He added that a State Development Plan (SDP) was initiated early this year and would run till 2030 as a critical element for agricultural production and industrialization has been helping to increase financial and technical support from development partners.
This he noted would boost agricultural production, reduce dependency on oil and empower the youths through technical and vocational capacity building as well as strengthen good governance.
He also assures the good citizen of Ogun State that 2018 Budget will be taken to Ogun State House of Assembly on Tuesday 21st of November, 2017 for approval. And every third Tuesday of November, Budget will be presenting to the assembly members for assessment.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Ms Aderenle Adesina the meeting was aimed at sensitizing members of the public on government plans for year 2018 budget and obtain their thoughts and contributions for inclusion into the budget saying that the previous ones had added values to the administration achievements.
She enjoined them to join hands with the government to ensure that the State potential were adequately explored.
Dignitaries in Attendance include: Chairman Ogun State Council of Obas and Paramount Rulers of Yewaland, HRM Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, and others Royal Fathers, Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Suraj Ishola Adekunbi, Chief of Staff’s Tolu Odebiyi, all SUG Governors in the State, Associations, NATA, NURTW, TORAN, ACCOMORAN, AMORAN, Political Wings, and others.
