A total number of 700 domestic violence matters were handled in year 2016 with 455 matters which has been amicably resolved ,200 matters were counseled and referred to other agencies and 55 client’s matters were disengaged due to family intervention.
Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Allevation,WAPA, Mrs Lola Akande, said this during the 2017 ministerial briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Center, Alausa.
In her speech, Akande said in the year under review, a total of 2,023 women were trained on short skill acquisition and the ministry organised 16 days Activism against Gender Based Violence in 2016.
A special valedictory session was held for the Fourth Legislative Assembly of the Children’s Parliament at the chambers of Lagos State House of Assembly in 2016 where laptops were presented to out-going members by WAPA.
According to Mrs Akande, ongoing projects before the end of the year includes construction of Ibeshe Garri Processing Center, cold room, market stalls and construction of two fibre boats for riverine areas.
