Senator Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has assured stakeholders in the budget implementation process of a robust economy and judicious uses of fund following the Senate approval of the long awaited $350million World Bank loan.
Amosun stated this at the Treasury Board Meeting on 2018 budget, held at the Obas’ Complex, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, said the approval of the loan would in no small measure assist in the implementation of year 2018 budget.
He noted that his administration would not only bequeath an enduring legacy to the next administration but ensure that generations unborn were proud of projects that would be left behind after the end of the present administration in office.
“Let me say that we must not rest on our oars. Much is expected of us, much is equally expected to be done as we are unwaveringly committed at laying down a lasting legacy for the good people of Ogun State.
”I therefore charge stakeholders to start brainstorming and cross fertilize ideas towards attaining the optimal growth required for our dear State in moving the state to an enviable height,” Amosun remarked.
The Governor tasked Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government to be more proactive and thorough in their presentations and deliberations of estimates so as to have hitch-free budget presentation to the state Assembly.
It will be recalled that the Senate at plenary on Thursday last week approved $350million World Bank loan for the state Development Policy Operation (DPO) as contained in the 2016-2018 Rolling Plan.
The approval followed the presentation of a report on the loan by Chairman, Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, Senator, Shehu Sani, presenting the report, Sani said that the committee observed that the state DSO budget for the loan had been approved by World Bank in 2016.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Ms. Adenrele Adesina described the 2018 budget as a reflection of the last six years budget and the administration’s desire for the State in the future, urging budget presenters to ensure transparency and remain thorough in their deliberation in order to achieve the set objective of rebuilding the state.
She admonished the stakeholders involved in the implementation of 2018 budget to be steadfast and make their proposals and contributions accurate, so as to have smooth running of the budget and speedy passage of the Appropriation Bill when presented to the State House Of Assembly.
