Buhari Appoints Habibat Lawal as Acting SGF, Arab Yadam Acting NIA D-G

In accordance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive, Dr. Habibat Lawal from Bauchi State and Amb. Arab Yadam from Plateau State have been appointed acting Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and acting Director-General, Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA) respectively.

This was disclosed by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the president, Mr. Femi Adesina. He said the president had directed that Dr. Habibat Lawal, who is the most senior Permanent Secretary at the SGF Office, take over in an acting capacity.

Also, Amb. Arab Yadam who is the most senior Permanent Secretary at the NIA, is now the acting DG.

Yadam is said to be the more senior Deputy DG among Oke’s two deputies.

The suspension of the two officials was to enable the Federal Government investigate the alleged infractions against them before a formal acceptance of their resignation.

Babachir Lawal will be probed over the N200 million contract awarded to a company, Global Vision Limited, by the Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE) for the clearing of “invasive plant species” (weeds) in Yobe State, a company allegedly linked to him,


Amb. Oke is being investigated over the $43.4million cash, discovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at Apartment 7B in Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, which NIA claimed belongs to the agency.
