Ogun State Government says structures or properties without development permit and building plan are at the risk of demolition.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun, while addressing management of the Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning at the Treasury Board Meeting on year 2018 budget held at Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, affirmed that quite a number of buildings constructed on government’s acquired lands without approval would be demolished.
He noted that most of the government acquired lands designated for special projects had been encroached upon by some members of the public without necessary approval.
Affirming his administration’s determination at reversing the trend, Amosun said “I will personally lead the team for demolition so as to send the right signal to people. A place which has been designated for something else have been messed up with different structures, we need to set example so that people will know that when they cross the bar, there are consequences for their actions.’’ He said.
He pointed out that the affected areas are those which fell within 1.5 metres road set backs on both sides most especially Kobape area along Abeokuta/Sagamu expressway.
Responding, Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Yetunde Dina assured that proper monitoring would be carried out to ensure that no structure was built without approval from the State Government.
