Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Afolabi Afuape, has charged parents to educate and encouraged their words in sporting activities as its a major determinant of a great and successful future career.
Commissioner who made this known while declaring open the Season 5 Semi-Final March of Ogun/Gtbank Principals’ Cup held at MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Joseph Fabi, said Gtbank has created a platform for the youth to positively engaged themselves in building their future career in sporting activities, particularly in football.
“The reason the state is collaborating with Gtbank is to create a platform were raw talents will be discover in sporting activities of choices and nature and encourage them to be more successful in sporting careers of their choice and Gtbank has proven themselves beyond reasonable doubt that they are up to the task in football aspect of the sport in the country,” Afuape said.
Declaring the Female category semi-final match open, the Assistance Manager, CSR Department, GTbank, Miss. Tolu Onipede, said the initiatives of Gtbank was to nauture and developed the God given talents of students in the country, saying that it was a way of giving back to the society by the CSR department of Gtbank.
She said the Gtbank would continue with the gesture by reaching out to their clients through sporting activities particularly the youths in the country as part of their CSR initiatives, adding that cash award would be given to the winners of the season 5 Gtbank-Ogun State Principals Cup to further encouraged the students.
The semi-final which ended in an interesting note with Our lady of Apostles ljebu Ode loosing to Iko Gateway Grammes School by 1nill, Makun high school, sagamu lost to Muslim high school, Isolu by 4 goals to 5 through a penalty shootout to book a ticket for the final.
For the male category, Ijebu Ode grammer school, Ijebu Ode lost to Remo high school, Ipara by 2 goals to 0 while Pakoto high school, Ifo beats Anglican Grammes school by 2 goals to 1 to also book a ticket for the final.
