A group under the aegis of Kogi Central Community Development Association (KCCDA) has appealed to Kogi State Government and security agents to come to the rescue of the people of the area by assisting to put in place urgent measures to check the rising cases of killing of targeted members of the community by yet to be identified gunmen.
This was contained in a statement issued by the President of KCCDA, Comrade Musa Adinoyi Isah, the community leader and a copy of which was made available to journalists in Lokoja.
He lamented that inspite of the commendable efforts of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration to ensure peace and security in the area and Kogi State in general, some undesirable elements in the community are bent on thwarting the good efforts of government through the incessant killings that has becomes order of the day in the area.
Comrade Isah who described perpetrators of the act as people without conscience, urged them to have a change of heart and stop soiling the image of the area.
He then called on traditional rulers, community heads and other stakeholders from Kogi Central to rise up to the challenges and halt the disturbing development, which he described as a very dangerous trend.
The KCCDA President however called on residents of the area to be security conscious at all times as well as divulging useful information to the police on matters that threatens peace/security, stressing that the policemen can not do it alone.
