The Gateway United Football Club (GUFC) says it is scouting for new coaching crew for the team towards ensuring it returns to topflight in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Afolabi Afuape made this known during an interview conducted by the ministry to recruit Head Coach, Assistance Coach and Goal keepers’ Trainer at the Ministry’s Conference Room, M.K.O Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta.

Afuape said the state of the football Club was an issue of great concern to the State Government especially after its challenges in the last season of the league, noting that the approach to restructure the club would be holistic.

“At its present state, GUFC is in dire need of a competent Head Coach and Technical crew with modern knowledge and experience in the game. The recent GUFC set back in the last league season calls for great concern. We want to assure the people of the state best outing in the coming season,’’ he submitted.

He said the selection of the Coaches would be on merit and nothing more, adding that after series of rigorous and technical engagement of applicants at the interview, the management had identified some experience hands with great prospects in the game, assuring that the management would take meaningful decision before the appointment so as to achieve the desired result of repositioning the team.
