Unknown gunmen have killed one of Labour leaders as another man was assassinated and his family members received high dregree of bullets wounds in Kogi State
The Labour leader, Comrade Abdulmumin Yakubu was attacked at residence in Okene, Okene Local Goverment Area of the state on Monday evening
Yakubu was killed in cold blooded after he was said to have performed ablution for the last Ishai Muslim prayers in front of his house in Okene.
Meanwhile the organised labour in Kogi state says it has suspended discussion with government on the ongoing strike following the gruesome murder of a labour leader Mallam Abdulmumuni Yakubu in Okene yesterday.
The Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Onuh Edoka.
and his TUC counterpart Comrade Ranti Matthew Ojo gave the indication in a statement in Lokoja on Thursday.
The statement said that the negotiation which suppose to continue with government Thursday has been suspended to enable labour leaders mourn their slained colleague.
They said the late Abdulmumuni Yakubu who was until his death, the branch chairman of Non Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (NASU) at the Kogi State Science Technology and Technical Education Board, was gruesomely murdered along side his friend in his house in Okene yesterday.
The organised labour , the murder of the unionist is a confirmation of the fear that the lives of the labour leaders in the state are daily threatened because of their agitations for better welfare package for civil servants in the state.
They said the labour leaders will return to negotiating table as soon as there is full assurances of their safety and that of the members of their families.
The organised labour condermned the murder of the union leader and called on Kogi state police command to urgently unravelled his killers , saying the organised labour in the state will fight on to ensure that his death would not go the way of many unresolved murder cases in Kogi State.
They urged workers to remained steadfast and prayerful for God will surely intervene in their matter shortly .
In.a related development a middle age man was murdered and his daughter and wife was shot at Nagazi in Adavi Local government area of kogi state when gunmen attacked their home.
It was gathered that it was confusion after
gunmen stormed the house of a man identified as Abdulganiu Aduki was shot dead his daughter and wife sustain severe injured.
The eye witness said the gunmen were suspected to be hired assassins as they attacked only Abdulganiu and his family and left without taking away any item to suggest they were robbers.
It was learnt that the sad incident occurred on Tuesday, November 31, 2017, at the
private residence on Inori Street of Nagazi community area, at about 7 30pm, when the suspected assassins broke into the man’s house and shot him and injured his daughter and wife ostensibly to kill everyone.
Sources disclosed that the daughter and his wife said to be five -years-old and respectively while they are said to be in critical conditions in a hospital where they were rushed to by the administrator of Adavi local government Hon Ajoge Enesi Abu.
Investigations revealed that everyone suspects the gunmen were not robbers and were sent by someone to wipe out the family.
“The man’s house is located on inori Street, off nagazi unvite. He work as a carpenter at inoziomi area of adavi local government The killers came on Tuesday evening.
“They shot him and injured is daughter and wife with bullet injuries. The attackers were not robbers; they went to the man directly. I was told that they did not take away any property.
“That is why everyone suspects that the killers were sent. They shot all members of his family presumably so that no one would be able to report to the police.
“However policemen from the Adavi division later came to the area to take photographs and remove the bodies.The policemen were all over our area.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the incident, saying the police will surely get the killers of Abdulganiu and his children.
“There was a report that the man was dead
And was in a pool of blood and his
daughter and wife where confirmed seriously injured.”
His wife and daughter were also seriously injured and they have been taken to a hospital for treatment.
The command is working assiduously to unravel the occurrence. We have some leads which we are working on, and we are optimistic of breaking through.
The Administrator assured Adavians that the police were still investigating the matter and that all was under control.
