A first Traditional ruler in Kogi State, the Ohimege-Igu of Koton Karfe in Kogi, Alhaji Abdulrasaq Isa-Koto has called on leaders to display exemplary leadership qualities that would endear to the people for overall development of the nation.
The royal father made this call at weekend during the turbaning ceremony of Barrsister Muhammad Tanko Musa, Administrator of Kogi Local Government as “Danmasani of Koton-Karfe.”
Isa-Koto said the performances of good leaders and leadership qualities often speak for themselves and usually endear them to their followers and the people generally.
The traditional ruler said Musa’s tenure as the Local Government Administrator had brought peace and progress to the area saying that he had always carried the people along and ran an open-door policy for the benefit of all.
The royal father said the Administrator merited the conferment adding that his leadership qualities endeared him to the traditional council as he urged the people to continue to work with in truth and honesty imbibing his credible, transparent and accountable disposition.
Speaking with newsmen at a reception organised in his country home of Osuku after the turbaning ceremony, the Administrator expressed gratitude to God and the Ohimege-Igu for finding him worthy of the title.
The Legal Practitioner and former Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lokoja branch – turned politician said, “It is indeed a position of high repute and indeed, I am glad and I thank Gov. Yahaya Bello for bringing me into the limelight through my appointment.
“I am happy and grateful to God for sparing my life to witness an occasion of this nature that is specifically meant for me. To whom much is given, much is expected. So, this conferment will spur me to more.
“I know that God being a merciful God will give me the wisdom, the grace, patience and triple patience to shoulder this decision-making responsibility placed on me by this title,” He said.
He implored the people of the Koton-Karfe chiefdom to maintain peace and obey constituted authorities saying it was the panacea to positive development and only way out of backwardness and stagnation.
