Following the threat by the State Government to implement no work no pay policy, the organised Labour in Kogi State has urged the government to do needful by setting up a negotiating team to dialogue.
The Labour unions stated that the Government should dialogue with the Labour rather than embarking on frivolous propaganda that will yield no positive result.
This was contained in a press statement jointly signed by the secrestaries of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Olakunle Faniyi, TUC,Comrade Kolawole James,and Joint Public Negotiating Council, Comrade Isah Abubarka Have expressed with dismay that government and its agents have continued to push falsehood into the public domain ostensibly to misinformed and different deceive the people instead of addressing the issues.
The statement which part read thus,” They said the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Ayoade Arike in her circular to the Minirstries, Department and Agencies threaten to implement the no work no pay policy which she claimed was a provision of trade Dispute Act, but the SSG failed mention the act or law that empowers government to deny worker s salaries for twenty one months.
“She also said that the period of strike would not be reckoned with in the computation of the years of Service of the striking workers on this union advised the workers to ignore as SSG and current government would not governor the State perpetually”.
The union also frowned at the fake stories the governor media office has been planting in some national dailys to give impression that the strike was shunned by workers.
The Union called on the traditional rulers to heed to the charge given to them by President Muhammadu Buhari to pressurized their governor to pay their worker s because they can not turn their face the other way while thousands of their suspects are dying avoidable deaths.
