Monkey Pox: Osun Creates 3 Isolation Centres to Treat Patients

The Government of the State of Osun has created three isolation centres to treat suspected Monkey Pox patients identified in the state.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamatu disclosed this on Tuesday at a press conference in Osogbo.

Dr Isamotu said that though no patient has been discovered to contact the disease in the state. but said that the isolation centres had to be established since some neighbouring states like Ekiti and Ogun were discovered to have got some patients.

He said that two of the three Isolation centres were located in Irepodun Local Government Area while one was located in Boripe Local Government Area.

Dr Isamotu said that anybody suspected to have the disease should first be taken to any of the government Hospital in his area where he would be transferred to the Isolation Centre.

He advised the people of the state to maintain proper hygiene by keeping their environment clean and proper washing of their hands after being in contact with rodents and any other animals.

The commissioner said that the government has also embarked on Radio jingles to educate the people on the prevention of Monkey Pox and other diseases.
