NIGERIA VOTES!!! Two Killed in Election Violence in Osun

A supporter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, whose name was given as Yomi Ademola, was at the wee hour of Saturday murdered.

Another person was reportedly killed in Olomu Village, Okere Ward of Ife South local government area.

It was gathered that political thugs invaded the village, burnt some houses and vehicles at about noon while the election process was going on.

He was allegedly murdered in his house in Ikirun, the headquarters of Ifelodun local government area of Osun State by yet unidentified people.

Mr. Kayode Oduoye, the PDP candidate for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin federal constituency, who confirmed the deceased as one of his supporters, said he recently defected from APC to PDP.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of election, Sam Okaula, confirmed the incident, saying the police have commenced investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, accreditation and voting process were generally peaceful in the state with impressive turnout, but the card readers failed to confirm the thumbprints of some voters in some polling stations in the state.

Director of Media, PDP presidential campaign organization, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, declined comments on the process, saying the election process was still on course.

He expressed optimism that people will return President Jonathan in the election.
