Ondo 2020: I’m Under Pressure to Contest Governorship Poll – Deputy Gov Ajayi

By Temitope Adedeji, Akure

The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon .Agboola Ajayi, has said that the good people of the state are pressurizing him to take part in the forthcoming guber poll in the state as all political calculations seem to work in his favour as the only man from the South senatorial district of the state.

While speaking with WESTERN POST on Sunday night on the next line of action for the deputy governor, his Media Adviser, Comrade Allen Sowore, and Chief Press Secretary, Babatope Okeowo, said the deputy governor on his own was still consulting his followers and admirers.
According to Allen, “Oga is still consulting his people over what to do and I can assure you that in a couple of days, he will make his intention known to the good people of the state.”
Also, Okeowo said Ajayi had been put under serious pressure by the stakeholders in the state to contest having considered that his senatorial district is supposed to be the zone to produce the next governor since other districts have had their own share of the slot.
They said further that the deputy governor is under pressure by the people of the state and other stakeholders to contest for the number one position in the state.
It would be recalled that the Deputy Governor has in recent times been in the news since his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress APC to the Peoples Democratic Party a few months ago.
However, his attempt to fly the banner of the PDP for the poll suffered a major setback as the party’s delegates gave the governorship ticket to Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), who was also the party’s candidate in the 2016 governorship election.
The political calculation going on now is that he may approach the Zenith Labour Party to run on its platform for the October 10 election.
