13 Ogun Athletes Invited to Join National Camp, Qualified For National Youth Game, Ilorin

Thirteen Ogun State Male and Female handball, volleyball and basketball teams has been invited to join the National Camp following their outstanding performance at the just concluded National Youth Games South-West Zonal Elimination (NYGSWZE) in Ibadan.
The state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Afolabi Afuape made this known today while chating with Journalists at his residence at Akin Olugbade in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the State.
Commissioner said he was not surprised by the outstanding performance of the state handball team, saying that the Male volleyball, basketball and handball also qualified to participaSeptember, 2017 at  National youth Game coming up between 7 to 17 of September at Univeraity of Ilorin.
“Am not surprise at the level of performance of Ogun state contingent in the competitions as the Governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun has eailer encourage and motivate the athletes before their departure to Ibadan through my humble self.
“When the Permanent Secretary, Mr Joseph Fabi was telling me on phone the achievements of the athletes, i said am very optimistic that in the nearest future, Ogun state volleyball, basketball and handball teams will rule the world with the rate at which they are moving, just like Anthony Joshua is doing the state proud presently,” Afuape said.
The permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Joseph Fabi through a phone conversation with Journalists said Ogun basketball male and female teams qualified.. For what sir? While that of volleyball also qualified with 4 of them called to the National camp alongside two of Ogun state hockey players who are Ajayi Solomon the keeper and Isla Iyanuoluwa.
Others are female handball team qualified, with the following players called to National Camp,  Ayandele Blessing, Akinlade Damilola and Ayodabo Lolade while the male include Akinlade Emmanuel, Abimbola Muyiwa, Bello Timileyin and  Kehinde Oludare.
Fabi said Cricket team are playing their deciding match tomorrow,saying that a win against Oyo will qualify them but a lost means no qualification.
