The management of the Lagos State Waste Management Agency (LAWMA), on Monday, presented health insurance payments to 14 highway sweepers who had suffered from work hazards as they went about their daily activities.
MD/CEO of LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni, presented the cheques to the sweepers after a short address at the Ijora Olopa Headquarters of the agency.
Describing the sweepers as the true heroes of LAWMA, Mr. Odumboni said the welfare and wellbeing of the sweepers is of utmost importance noting that he will do everything within his power to ensure that no staff of LAWMA is left unattended to.
“First, I want to express my deepest appreciation to you all. Keeping Lagos consistently clean is a very demanding and challenging job and you have carried out your duties with so much zeal and love for the state.
“And in the process of carrying out your duties, you have faced several threats and dangers. Yet, you still put in the work, day in, day out. You are LAWMA’s true heroes.
“As you receive this compensations under the LAWMA Care Insurance Scheme, I want to use this opportunity to reassure you that the management of LAWMA will continue to prioritize your health and welfare. We will continue to make sure that you get the best when it comes to your welfare and wellbeing.”
Under the administration of Mr. Odumboni, the Health Insurance Scheme ‘LAWMA Cares’ was introduced to cater for the members of staff of the essential agency.
The adoption of insurance policy for all Highway Sanitation Workers by LAWMA Management has brought a great succour to beneficiaries.
