Olubadan Stool Controversy: Oyo Lawmaker Lauds Makinde’s Intervention

A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Razaq Mabaje has lauded the courage and intervention of the Governor Seyi Makinde the controversy trailing who becomes the next Olubadan of Ibadan land.

Governor Makinde had on Tuesday, while on a condolence visit to the palace of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, said that the Olubadan chieftaincy system must revert to its original concept, a development Mabaje described as laudable and courageous.

According to him, the governor’s position brought has brought an end to the lingering issues,  adding that he displayed a high sense of quality leadership over the matter.

“The statement by Governor Seyi  Makinde was the best way the issue could be resolved, and it has since brought normalcy over who becomes the next Olubadan.

“Ibadan land has the best concept of chieftaincy system which is  usually peaceful, because both the Egbe Agba line and the Balogun line have proper arrangements on who emerges the next Olubadan when the current occupier joins his ancestors,” Mabaje said.

He also lauded High Chief Lekan Balogun for agreeing to the statement of the governor in order to make peace reign in the land.

The legislator, who represents Ido State Constituency in the Assembly described the governor as a good leader who will not fold his arms and allow anarchy and disorderliness undermine the peace of the state.

He urged the kingmakers to observe the original concept of Ibadan traditional system as said by the governor in order to make peace reign supreme in the land.

He also enjoined the people of Ibadan to cooperate with Governor Makinde to move the state forward.
