Barely few hours after the declaration of the incumbent Governor, Yahaya Bello as the winner of Saturday of governorship election by INEC in Kogi State, a coalition of 16 candidates accepted the result and drummed support for Bello.
At a press conference in Lokoja on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Collation and candidate of YDP, Sani Shiabu Teidi disclosed that the support becomes imperatives because of the growth of democracy and to move the state forward.
“We congratulate His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for overwhelming victory at the poll and all those who participated in the election.
“16 among the candidates have accepted the result of the election and we urged the losers to work with the winner of this election for accelerated development
“We appeal to the winner to be magnanimous in victory and prepare to mend fencing s for all-inclusive governance. We are appealing to all stakeholders to accept the winner for Participatory governance “,he posited.
The coalition, therefore, condemned in it totality the call for the cancellation of the election by the civil society groups because of the enormity of waste and loss of lives that might occur in course of re-run of another election.
They called on all the aggrieved should play the game by the rule, stressing Kogi State belongs to all and only panacea for development is peace.
