2 Men Remanded In Osun For Allegedly Stealing Bags Of Rice, N.5m

Two men have been remanded by an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly stealing bags of rice and money.
The accused persons, Oguntolu Tirinisiyu, 55 and Kehinde Segun, 37, were said to have committed the offence on November 28, 2021 around 10:00pm at Sabo area in Ikire.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Temitope Fatoba informed the court that the duo stole nine bags of rice and N500,000 cash.
He said the accused persons also demanded that N20,000 should be transferred to First Bank account number 3055380295, amounting to N743,000 the value of the property stolen by the culprits, which belongs to one Edward Taiwo.
The Prosecutor said the offence committed was contrary to and punishable under Sections 390(9), 516 and 383 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge leveled against them.
The Defense Counsel, Olusegun Olatoye prayed the court to grant his clients bail on liberal terms.
Magistrate, O.A Daramola in his ruling asked the defense counsel to file a formal bail application.
The Magistrate thereafter remanded them at Ilesa Correctional Centre pending the formal bail application.
The case was adjourned till February 1, 2022 for hearing of the bail application.
