History Made as Alaafin of Oyo, Soun of Ogbomoso Re-unite After 20 Years

History was made on Saturday as the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111, and Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade 111, re-united in Ogbomoso, for the first time after 20 years.

Both traditional rulers called on Nigerians to embrace peace and harmony in a bid to move the country forward.

The Alaafin, who arrived at the expansive Ogbomoso palace alongside his wives, Ayaba  Memunat and Folasade, at 3.50 pm, was ushered into the inner chamber of the wife of the Soun, Ayaba Olaronke Oyewumi.

Oba Adeyemi had visited the Soun with all the grandeur of his traditional office.

Speaking during the visit, Alaafin stressed that he was in Ogbomoso to seek counsel from the nonagenarian monarch among other issues. The visit lasted  25 minutes.

In his remarks, Soun who expressed delight on the visit said the last visit of Alaafin was around 20 years ago.

Both Alaafin and Soun were once embroiled in a tussle over the chairmanship of Oyo Council of Traditional Rulers.
However, a decision was later taken to rotate the chairmanship of the council among the top traditional rulers in the state. This put paid to the bickering between them.
