The Gamji Club of Kwara state – an association promoting the ideals of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto, has organized a special prayer for a successful and violence free 2015 general elections.
The prayer session which was held at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibarhim Sulu-Gambari had in attendance the executive and members of the Gamji club.
Speaking at the event, an Ilorin-based Islamic scholar, Imam Sulyman AbdulRafiu Alaaya, urged Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country and the entire globe for peace and stability to continue to reign prayed God to grant Nigeria absolute peace before, during and after the general elections.
The cleric cautioned political leaders in the country against the ‘do or die politics, stressing that power belongs to God and bestow it on whom he wishes.
He appealed to Nigerian leaders to emulate the leadership qualities of the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello who saw power as a mere service to humanity.
Also at the prayer session, Imam Abdullahi AbdulHameed from Oja-Gboro Ilorin alsourged Nigerians to pray fervently for the nation to remain united after the general elections said that life itself is transient and therefore urged political office seekers not to be too desperate in pursuing their ambition.
Earlier, the President-General of Kwara Gamji Club, Dr. Abubakar Laaro, said the prayer formed part of activities marking the Gamji day celebration which had been slated for the January 17 and will hold in Ilorin, the state capital.
“The state governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed is expected to be the Chief Host, Senator Bukola Saraki , the grand Host while the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari the Royal Host.
The former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will deliver a lecture on the leadership qualities of the late premier of northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello.
