There are indications that tomorrow’s Presidential and National Assembly elections may be postponed as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, is in an emergency meeting with stakeholders in Abuja over the elections.
Sources close to the meeting informed our correspondent that the electoral umpire may end up postponing the elections over logistics issue.
The commission was said to have ran into some logistics problems, which arose from delay in getting the sensitive materials from CBN vaults and weather problems in getting the materials to some states in the South-East and South-south.
For instance, the plane conveying the materials could not land in Enugu owing to poor visibility,. It then considered heading for Port Harcourt in Kwara State, which would mean spending between four to five hours in getting to some states.
It was learnt that both foreign and local observers were present at the INEC headquarters in Abuja for the meeting.
