Former President Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo has finally endorsed his former president as president come 2019 general election.

Atiku and Obasanjo

Obasanjo gave his word to support the winner of last weekend PDP Presidential primary elections held in Port Harcourt, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, during a press conference held at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He declared that his former vice president and now presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, would perform better than President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former president also stated that Atiku has the experience and capacity to rule and create jobs for youths in the country should he emerge president at the 2019 general elections.

Also, Obasanjo  has forgiven his vice president between 1999 and 2007 of his ‘sins,’ Saying who if God forgives, who is he not to forgive and forget all that has transpired between him and Atiku.

Obasanjo also said Atiku had asked for forgiveness and had shown remorse as regards the animosity between the duo.

On his part, the PDP presidential flag bearer thanked his former boss for the privilege given him to be with him again and also the opportunity given him to be his vice president, which he claimed had given him a leverage above other aspirants.

Last Sunday after he emerged as the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku had paid tribute to his former boss for working with him between 1999 and 2007.

“I am the only president you have trained and I want to continue the governance from where you have stopped.”

Present at the reconciliation meeting were PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; PDP chieftain, Chief Bode George; founder of Living Faith Ministries, Bishop David Oyedepo; popular Islamic scholar, Sheik Sheu Gumil; former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel;  former governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke, Senator Ben Murray Bruce and the leadership of Afenifere among others.
