The Executive Governor of Ogun state, Dr. Dapo Abiodun has declared that his administration will create an industrial park in all senatorial districts in the state.
He disclosed also that his administration will be creating a bureau for water supply that will complement the effort of the government.
Abiodun made this known during the stakeholders’ town hall meeting on the 2020 Budget in Ogun Central Senatorial District in Abeokuta on Friday.
According to him, “I believe that all of us can see the value in what we have chosen to do. You will recall that before now, the previous administration will only call a handful of people to this hall in Abeokuta and have what pretends to be a budget town hall meeting.
“We have taken that to another level, we have gone to all the senatorial districts to ensure that it is an all-inclusive and participatory session.”
He said, “most of our complaints are on roads, and I’m glad that this administration has placed a premium on the rehabilitation and construction of roads across the nook and cranny of the state.
“While rehabilitating roads, we will ensure that all our local raw material traders are patronized and fully engaged in the process.
“The idea behind using the Ogun State public works agency is that our local and indigenous people are given the patronage that they deserve.
“The responsibility of water supply is embedded in the ministry of special duties and we are taking it out and we are creating a bureau for water supply on its own so that it can get the attention it deserves.
“There are two bureaus that we are creating, we are creating the energy and electricity board so that also has the attention that it deserves.
“We cannot be planning to be a sustainable State or a city if we don’t have adequate power and water. So, we will have water and electricity boards and they are going to be headed by people who would have proven track records in those areas.
“In the area of electricity, we are currently conducting want we call a power audit across the State so we can see how to intervene in all the new towns.”
He explained further that “we are also creating industrial parks in the three senatorial districts and they will have full facilities, they will have power, they will water drainage. Those industrial parks we will have enough electricity and the spillover will be benefited from that corridor of where the industrial parks are”.
In separate contributions, Alhaji Akeem Bodunrin popularly calls Iyeru, state chairman of NURTW commended the state governor for his initiative to make this budget issues a participatory one.
According to him, “In the history of Ogun state, we have never experienced such a wonderful leader.”
He said, his leadership would ensure that all members are in one accord with the government by paying their dues to the government towards a better Ogun State.
