Osun State  Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola on Wednesday received hundreds of defectors from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defectors were led by former Special Adviser on Strategy and Planning to former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Hon. Funmilayo Olasheinde Mustapha.

Speaking at the event, Oyetola commended the defectors for taking the bold step.

He said, “Our party is standing without a problem. We welcome those that will add value to our party like Hon. Funmilayo Olasheinde Mustapha.

“We have observed that we rarely win in Ifedayo local govt, we are glad that we now have their leader. We believe that we would now win in Ifedayo local government.

“We urge those that are yet to join the ruling APC to join us.”

Oyetola used the occasion to reiterate his commitment to good healthcare facilities and workers’ welfare.

The governor then urged members of the party to obtain their Permanent Voters Card, (PVC), saying “we will monitor all processes; no vote would be brought in.”

He added that the flyover would be completed before the end of the third year celebration of his administration.

Mustapha who was a former House of Assembly member under the PDP and a former council chairman, led her supporters from the Ila Federal Constituency, comprising Ila, Boluwaduro and Ifedayo and other seven councils in the state, saying that she left PDP because of its protracted crisis.

She noted that a party that could not fix its challenges could certainly not fix that of the State, adding that Oyetola’s achievements in just three years despite the financial challenges were worthy of emulation.

Dignitaries at the event are: the Deputy Governor,  Adegboyega Alabi, Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Etteh, former deputy Governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senate’s spokesperson, Senator Ajibola Bashiru and the party chairman, Gboyega Famodun among others.
