Ahead of the 2023 general elections, Igbo community in Oyo State has declared their full support for the second term bid of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The move was disclosed by the Special Assistant to Governor Makinde on Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Mr. Tallest Innocent while speaking with newsmen during Igbo community stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan.
Tallest said: “To be sincere, governor Makinde deserves a second term owing to his intimidating records and unprecedented achievements since he assumed power in 2019.
“I have gone round to feel the impulse of the people, especially the Igbo’s and other stakeholders in the state. They have unwavering support for the governor, saying he has been doing wonderfully well in his approach to governance, by placing merit over mediocrity in his scheme of affairs.
“I can assure you that come 2023, he does not have any problem with Ndi-Igbo in Oyo State, as the will throw their full support behind him to achieve the second term.
“From the attendance, you can see that all the Igbo’s are solidly behind Governor Makinde despite the perceived differences within their fold, this shows that governor Makinde’s style of leadership is welcomed by the non-indigenes resident in the Pacesetter state.”
He denied insinuation of any division among the Igbo community in the state, saying they remain united as a family
Mr. Tallest hailed the decision of Governor Makinde to appoint two persons of Igbo extraction into his cabinet as a clear demonstration of all inclusive governance he is running, thus placing efficient service delivery over political and ethnic divides.
He further assured that as part of the decisions reached by the stakeholders, Ndi-Igbo will continue to rally round Governor Seyi Makinde’s led administration, offering the needed support for maximum success.
