The Obasa Movement, a political group mobilising support for the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa, on Saturday officially inaugurated its Ward Cordinators in Apapa Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The state Coordinator of the Movement, Mr. Akinola Idowu, who is the Assistant Welfare Officer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, carried out the inauguration and also unveiled the secretariat of the movement in the LCDA.
Idowu said that the movement was concerned about the 2023 general elections, especially to actualise the Presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos State.
“We are not here to split the party. APC is our party. We are only adding to the work of the party to move forward.
“We are here to work to see to the fruition of the Presidential ambition of Tinubu. We should carry the task and sell it everywhere.
“We are standing for the growth of the Yoruba,” he said.
Idowu urged the coordinators to work with the ward and local government executive of the party and other support groups for Tinubu without tearing or dividing the party.
The state coordinator urged the coordinators to get involved in mobilising people to register for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for elections to actualise Tinubu’s aspirations in 2023.
He added that the movement wanted development to reach the grassroots, hence the need to build an army to accelerate such development.
Idowu urged the coordinators to put up good character, mobilise votes in any means, and work hard without without idleness for the future of the ruling party.
Alimi said everything about the movement was in line with Tinubu’s ideals and vision of bringing good governance to the people.
According to him, Tinubu controls larger followership in the political circle in Nigeria not only in Lagos and deserve to be worked for in 2023.
Also, a Chieftain of the party and Movement, Adeyemi Adeseye, said the Movement was to instil the belief and ideology of Tinubu and Obasa in the minds of Lagosians, saying that its purpose was to intensify the campaign for Tinubu’s presidency.
