
National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu on Sunday visited the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi in continuation of his engagement with traditional rulers across the country’s six geo-political zones in respect of his 2023 presidential ambition.
Tinubu’s was to seek the support and blessings of the revered Yoruba monarch.
The Alaafin it was gathered had planned to use the opportunity of the meeting to broker peace between Tinubu his erstwhile political ally, the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who did not honour the invitation.
Unconfirmed report had it that the monarch had invited the former Osun State governor who has been at loggerheads with Asiwaju Tinubu to broker peace between the duo.
A source told newsmen that the rift between the duo has created political tension in the Southwest, hence the planned intervention of the foremost monarch.
It would be recalled that Aregbesola’s anointed aspirant, Moshood Adeoti lost to the incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the primary election conducted on Saturday.
While Adeoti came second and far behind Oyetola, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yusuf Lasun came third in the race.
