An Osun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo on Monday remanded a 23- year old man, Okunola Sodiq, for allegedly stabbing and inflicting a deep cut on his co-tenant.
Sodiq who was slammed with two-count charge of stabbing and biting one Dauda Abdulgafar, was said to have used knife to stab his co-tenant, Abdulgafar on his left hand and bit him on his chest.
The Prosecutor, Olayiwola Razak said the offence was commited on January 24, 2021 around 08:30am at Zone D2 Fiwasaye community Osogbo.
Razak further informed the court that Sodiq deliberately used the knife to inflict deep cut on the victim’s left hand.
According to the prosecutor, the victim had accused Sodiq of stealing some properties before a brawl ensued.
Their landlord was said to be making efforts to settle their face-off before Sodiq allegedly got furious and stabbed Abdulgafar on his left hand.
He also claimed that Abdulgafar had been hospitalised at Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
Razak said the offence committed by the defendant is contrary to and punishable under section 335 of the criminal code cap 34 Vol. 2 Laws of Osun state Nigeria 2002.
The Defence counsel, Okobe Najite urged the court to grant his client bail, promising that he would stand his trial but the Prosecutor opposed the bail application due to the victim’s health condition.
Magistrate Ishola Omishade ordered that the accused to be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre.
He then adjourned the case till February 3,2021 for hearing.
