The Osun State Police has arrested 24-year-old housewife resident in Ede, Mariam Musa, for killing her stepson.
Marriam was paraded alongside 12 other suspected criminals at the State Police Headquarters in Osogbo shortly after the newly posted commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode addressed journalists in the State.
Confessing to the crime, Marriam said that she killed her stepson because her husband cared more for the boy and his mother. She claimed that her husband loved Rokeeb’s mother because she has a male child.
The suspect revealed further that on the 26th of December, 2020, when the three-year-old boy, Rokeeb, came to her room to ask for water, she poured poison in the water for him to drink.
According to her, “I killed him (the stepson) because my husband was taking care of the boy and his mother. The boy came to my room to ask for water.
“I mixed the water with insecticide and gave him (victim) to drink. He was later rushed to the hospital where he later gave up the ghost.”
Exhibits recovered from the suspect include pesticide bottle with the liquid content and an empty rubber bottle.
Similarly, Garuba Lukman, Famous Tajudeen Monsuru and Hamsat Akeem who allegedly kidnapped and killed Akanbi Adeolu, Alani Mutiyat, Akinloye Ibrahim and many other victims were also among the suspects paraded by the police.
Another suspect; Awayewasere Yusuf, who was into human body parts business was also paraded.
