The Oyo State Government has announced its readiness to give the late Olubadan of Ibadanlad, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade I, a befitting state burial. Gov. Abiola Ajimobi disclosed this at the weekend when he paid a condolence visit to the Olubadan’s palace.

Ajimobi was received by the Otun Olubadan, Senator Lekan Balogun, Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Olufemi Olaifa and Olubadan’s son, Prince Femi Lana.

According to him, the committee is made up of the members of the Olubadan’s family, Olubadan- In-Council and the state government officials.

The governor disclosed that the burial ceremony would commence from February 6 to February 12, 2016.

“He was a good father to all of us. We are happy and sad at the same time. We are happy that he grew old and lived a fruitful life. Olubadan was a disciplinarian and was orderly in his endeavours. He was elegant and had integrity. Oba Odulana was very predictable and I wish he will be the type we will continue to have on the throne.

“He fought for me three times to be governor. He has a mind and heart of assessing people’s credibility.

“On behalf of the government and good people of Oyo State, we are here to commiserate with you all.

“Olubadan was an accomplished human being by all standards. Even if it’s about his age, he was fulfilled and contempted with all he had. He was an epitome of patriotism, who was passionate about the progress of Ibadan,” the governor said.

Ajimobi noted that it is the responsibility of the state government to give the late Olubadan of Ibadanland a befitting burial , urging the family to give the state government the opportunity to give him their last respect.

In his response, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Balogun thanked the governor for his visit and readiness to give the late Olubadan a beffiting burial.

“We are extremely happy for honouring Olubadan. We are proud to have you as our governor and Kabiyesi will have no regret supporting you to be governor.”

“It was the media that broke the news of Olubadan’s death, especially on the social media without following protocol. We welcome the expression for your commitment for his burial and we shall also support the state government,” he said.
