Scores Killed as Boko Haram Insurgents Attack 5 Villages in Adamawa

A day after the police hoisted Nigerian flags in recaptured towns and villages in Borno and Yobe states including Gworza, Boko Haram insurgents on Sunday attacked five villages in Adamawa and killed scores of people.

President Buhari had also said the Boko Haram insurgents had been largely defeated.

Some of the villagers said they got wind of the Adamawa attack and alerted some security agents but they could not nip in the bud.

The military has, however, said they would apprehend the culprits. Chief of Army Staff, Brig. Gen. Buratai, said the military would not relent until Boko Haram extremists are exterminated.

Buratai said the army would intensify training for its soldiers to ward off attack on soft targets.
