INEC Approves Simultaneous Accreditation, Voting for Rerun Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the use of simultaneous accreditation and voting for pending court-ordered re-run elections on a pilot basis.
 
In a public notice issued on Thursday, February 11, 2016 and signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs Augusta C. Ogakwu, INEC said the decision was taken following consultations with major stakeholders and in the public interest.
 
The Commission also approved that in line with the new procedure, voting at the pending re-run elections shall commence at 8.00 am and close at 2.00 pm.
INEC is conducting 80 rerun elections across the country between now and March 2016.
 
The statement reads:
Following consultations with major stakeholders in the electoral process and public interest on the subject, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at its meeting held on Thursday, 11thFebruary, 2016 considered and approved the use of continuous accreditation and voting for pending re-run elections on a pilot basis.
 
The Commission further approved that in line with the new procedure, the voting at these elections shall commence at 8:00am and close at 2:00pm.
