The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, has refuted the rumour making the round that the institution has commenced the sales of Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination forms that determines the students to be finally admitted into the institution for 2016/2017 academic session.

Prof. Ambali said the Vice Chancellors have just been invited to meet with the Minister of Education on Tuesday where the issue of post UTME in federal, state and private universities would be decided.

The VC stated this during an interactive session with newsmen before Iftar (breaking of fast) at his residence on Sunday.

“We want to categorically state it here that the institution has not commenced the sale of post-UTME as been said and we want the newsmen to enlighten the parents and students to log-in to the institution website to get accurate information.

“The directive was executive directive, since then different Universities have been thinking on how best to admit students. We got a letter to meet the Minister for Education in Abuja which centers on this issue so till I come back then we take our decision,” he said.

On his successor, Ambali said the process had been peaceful as it is well known that the citadel of learning is a peaceful place which will enjoy peace forever.

“Unilorin is a peaceful place, which will enjoy peace forever when I read the news on newspaper I was embarrassed. All transition has been peaceful and smooth and when the next one start it will be peaceful,” he added

He allayed the fear that the institution might not admit much students saying the Nigeria University Commission just visited the school to inspect the facilities, capacity and equipment for 2016/2017, which he said would give them room to admit more students.

Ambali said the institution has zero tolerance for sexual harassment, adding that the recent alleged sexual harassment case is still under investigation as the school deploys other means with which such cases can be reported under anonymity while the institution has relieved some lecturers of their duty due to their low moral standard.
