401 Stranded Pilgrims to Mecca Protest in Ilorin

No fewer than 401 intending hajj pilgrims to Hold land, Mecca from Ekiti and Ondo states staged a peaceful protest and shutdown Ilorin airport over three days flight delay to Saudi Arabia in the early hour of Monday.

The 401 intending hajj pilgrims were supposed to fly to the holy land in Medview airline on Saturday night at 11 pm

Westernpost correspondent found out the Aircraft slated to convey the intending pilgrims did not show up.

However, a source at the airport who spoke with  Westernpost said the delay in arrival of the Aircraft was due to technical problems and gear faults.

“Yes, there are 124 from Ekiti and 277 from Ondo State stranded intending pilgrims who ought to have been airlifted to Saudi Arabia since Saturday night are protesting this morning at the Airport to register their grievances”

“I learnt the delay in arrival of the Aircraft was due to technical problems and gear fault, “he said.

The impeccable source disclosed that the Airline settled to sort for an alternative.

The source also said that Medview Airline which was supposed to convey the intending pilgrims to holy land hired Max Air on contract so it was the hired airline that developed fault.

Meanwhile, Westernpost correspondent in a telephone chat with Max air Manager,Alhaji  Muneer Lawal said he was not ground to give true picture of the issue but would link up with officers on ground for details

“I am not on ground to give you the real picture of the issue but I will link you up with officers on ground to speak with,” he said.

Efforts to speak with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria(NAHCON )Alhaji Saad proved abortive.
