The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has urged Nigerians to always love and forgive one another for peace to reign in the country.
He gave the advice on Friday during a special Jumaat prayers organised in his honour as the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan land.
The Olubadan said he became the Olubadan with the blessing of Almighty Allah, saying that nothing could be achieved without God.
He added that “God loves us and we should love one another because no matter the number of years we spent on earth, death would surely come one day and we would account for our deeds.
“I urge Muslims and non-Muslims alike to shun evil deeds and sins and be of good character because anybody that failed to enter paradise lived a failed life.”
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Ibadan, Shelkh Abdulganiyu Abubakri, also urged Nigerian leaders to be of good character, always be grateful and contented with what God gave them.
Abubakri also urged leaders to assist the less privileges and not to look down upon the poor, saying that “God is always with those who spend in His mighty name.”
The Chief Imam said that leaders would account for their deeds on the day of judgment.
He called on the Olubadan to always seek advice from people for him to succeed and prayed that Allah would protect and guide the traditional ruler.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that dignitaries at the special prayer were the Osi Olubadan, Chief Rasidi Ladoja, Ekarun Olubadan, Chief Amidu Ajibade, Osi Balogun, Chief Tajudeen Ajibola and Ekerin Olubadan, Chief Lateef Adebimpe.
Others are the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Daud Makanjuola, Babasale Musulumi of Ibadanland, Alhaji Lateef Oyelade among others.
