No fewer than five suspected cult members were arrested in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State over their alleged involvement in two different clashes in the area.
Mr. Olakunle Omisakin, the Divisional police officer (DPO) in charge of Yaba Division, a Superintendent of Police (SP), who confirmed this to WESTERN POST, said the suspects were arrested in different locations in the community.
He said they had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in Akure. The senior police officer said further that the ancient town had been witnessing undue disturbance from cultists, which has thrown the town into confusion following two separate clashes by rival groups of suspected cult members leading to the death of two persons.
The DPO said the anti-cultism squad set up by the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Isaac Eke, is also to get rid of the activities of hoodlums who want to disrupt the peace of the state.
Meanwhile, the state police command last week paraded the most wanted cult leader in the state, Kola Adigun, known as (ASOGA), over his activities in the state.
He is also accused of initiating innocent people into cultism.
