The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Danladi has congratulated Nigerians as the country’s independence clocks 59 years.
The Speaker, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media, Ibrahim Sheriff, Danladi said, “while thanking God Almighty over the relative peace we have in Nigeria despite our diversities and challenges, we pray peace return to the troubled parts of the country.”
The Gwanara born legislator, however, charged Nigerians to strengthen their patriotism and believe in the country, noting that the selflessness and sacrifices of our heroes past borne out of their unequalled patriotism that earned us the independence we enjoy today.
“It is therefore imperative for us all to recognize our roles as leaders, citizens and relevant stakeholders in realizing the vision of our heroes past; vision of a peaceful, united and prosperous Nigeria.
“Let us continue to pray for Nigeria and do all in our ability to sustain the spirit of relentlessness, perseverance and sacrifice that led to our independence to realize a greater Nigeria that we can be more proud of”, he added.
