61st Independence Anniversary: Makinde Admonishes Nigerians On Cooperation, Peaceful Coexistence

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has admonished Nigerians to cooperate and be more united in order to move the nation forward.

The governor gave the admonition at the 61st Independence celebration held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan on Friday.

The governor, who was represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Adeosun Olubanwo, said Nigerians need to be more united at this trying period in order to move the nation forward.

He said unity and peaceful coexistence of the Nigerian people will further move the nation forward in all ramifications.

“Today is October 1st  Independence celebration of Nigeria and we are celebrating it in a unique way. I urge everybody  irrespective of tribe, colour  or religion to cooperate with one  another and be united in order to move the nation forward.

“Let us put away all issues and sentiments causing problems for us in Nigeria and seek the face of God. I believe Nigeria is a nation of the Lord God, and it is still going to be great,” Makinde said.

He used the occasion to congratulate the people of the state and urged them to continue to do their best to move the state forward.

The celebration had top government functionaries,  dignitaries and eminent personalities in attendance.
