An award winning Musician Abolore Akande popularly known as 9ice has urged students of University of Ilorin to focus more on Self discovery rather than primarily targeting money so as to get the best out of life.
9ice stated this while speaking as a panelist at PAL Pension “NEXTU” network programme held at the school auditorium on Thursday.
“Money is almost everything but self discovery is the most important, get what God wants you do,be attentive so as to know what to live for,” he said.
Similarly the 2018 Big Brother Naija Second runner up Tobi Bakare enjoined the students not to make wrong decision no matter how little and be mindful of how they use social media as it goes a long way telling who they are.
Bakare urged them to start planning for tomorrow from today and get along with struggles more than success.
Other speakers such as Oluyomi Ojo, Oluwatosin Olasinde and Joel Ogunsola spoke on embracing entrepreneurship,finance, skills and human management respectively.
Earlier in her address, the PAL Pension Head, Brand Management and Corporate Communications Sunmisola Mark-Okoma said NEXTU project was conceived to guide young people through career choices and financial literacy.
She added that NEXTU is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of organization focused on providing knowledge and guidance for Unleashing the potential of young people on career,enterpreneurship/Tech,
New media,entertainment and life choices.
Okoma said Unilorin has joined University of Lagos, University of Benin,University of Port-Harcourt, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ahmadu Bello University,University of Abuja and University of Nigeria who are already on the network.
She added that the organization has expanded the NEXTU platform to include ‘The NEXTU Academy’ which would combine theoretical business and graduate school training with practical work place skills to raise workforce ready graduates.
The programme also feature ‘sellYourself’ segment where there are opportunities to win prizes worth Millions of Naira.
