AAUA Graduates Over 3000 Students With 20 First Class, Marks 20years Of Existence

The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Professor Igbekele Ajibefun has commended the staff of the University for their steadfast in making the Institution a citadel of pride to all.

Speaking with Journalists in Akure, the state capital on Monday as part of the activities marking the 20th anniversary and the 9th Convocation of the school.

Ajibefun who is the 5th Vice-Chancellor of the school since it’s establishment said, the institution has done tremendously well in amongst the committee of Universities in the country.

The Vice-Chancellor, who said that the University will be producing 3,804 graduands at this year 9th Convocation, out of which, only 20, made it to the first-class position.

He said further that the Faculty of Education has the leading graduands of 1,112 followed by the Faculty of Sciences and Social & Management Sciences with 810 and 786 graduands respectively. Faculty of Arts and Law have 590 and 72 respectively.

However, the Vice-Chancellor said further that 140 Candidates will be conferred with Masters, while 28 will be conferred with Postgraduate Diploma. A total of 16 Candidates will be conferred with Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) Degree.

According to him ” I am happy that our modest efforts in the last few years have continued to yield very positive results, as the school came first among all state-owned Universities in Nigeria, clinching 9th position among all Nigerian Universities, coming after seven Federal and one private Universities in the recently released global webometrics Ranking of World Universities released on July 31st,2019.”

He later advised that the government alone cannot fund education and urged stakeholders to wake to the development of the system in Nigeria.
