AAUA Loses Pioneer VC


The death of the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, has been announced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Igbekele Amos Ajibefun, on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, staff and students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.

He has described the death of the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Akin Akindoyeni, OFR, as a colossal loss to the academic world.

He made this known on Saturday evening in a statement signed by Opeoluwa Akinfemiwa, the Acting Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, the Vice Chancellor identified late Professor Akindoyeni as a quintessential and consummate member of the academia whose legacies endure on the face of the university.

Prof. Ajibefun said the late scholar was a rare gem who contributed immensely to human capital development in the various positions he held.

The Vice Chancellor called the late Professor a worthy forerunner who worked laboriously to build an enduring foundation for AAUA.

The statement reads in part, “The lofty status of our University offers credence to the fact that Professor Akin Akindoyeni was a man with rare talents. There is no gainsaying the late Professor worked onerously to build an enduring foundation for AAUA. His achievements for the University are remindful of his brilliance and exceptional qualities.

“The University wishes the family of the former Vice Chancellor God’s peace and enabling strength to cope with this moment of sore loss.”

Prof. Akindoyeni, AAUA’s pioneer VC and a former Director-General of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru-Jos, died at the age of 80.
