Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Friday presented staff of office to the new Olu of Imasayi, Oba Kuoye Lukman Olalekan Adeleke.
In his address at the installation ceremony, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, Afolabi Afuape, who represented the governor congratulated the new monarch on his ascension of the throne of his forefathers.
He said: “It gives me great pleasure to be here today to celebrate with the good people of Imasayi and its environs on this memorable occasion of the installation of Oba Kuoye Lukman Olalekan as the new Olu of Imasayi.
“This is an epoch-making event in the annals of the history of Imasayi. Today’s event is the height of the series of activities that have been put in place to ensure the emergence of a new Olu of Imasayi in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State. It is indeed a dawn of a new era in Imasayi community”.
Afuape commended the people of Imasayi for maintaining peace and tranquility since the demise of Oba Gbadebo Adesola Oni, the erstwhile Olu of Imasayi who joined his ancestors on 8th July, 2020.
He also commended the kingmakers as well as members of the ruling house for their patience and cooperation during the selection process.
The commissioner stated that by the appointment, the new Olu has become a member of the Yewa Traditional Council and accordingly, the custodian of the culture and traditions of Imasayi.
The Olofin of Ado -Odo, Oba Lateef Adeniran who spoke on behalf of the paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle urged the people to cooperate with the new monarch for the development the town.
He appealed to all and sundry to support the new Olu.
In his remarks, Oba Kuoye Olalekan Adelek expressed gratitude to God Almighty, the state governor, Olu of Ilaro, Chief Akeem Adigun, Mr.Temitope Kuyebi among others, even as he assured the people of the town of his readiness to serve and take imasayi to enviable heights.
He said henceforth, Imashai and its environment will begin to experience rapid development and the glory of God will begin to radiate in the land.
