About 1000 beneficiaries of the Senator Tokunbo Abiru’s COVID-19 Relief Financial Assistance in the 98 wards of the 16 local council areas in the Lagos East Senatorial district on Friday received direct credit in their respective bank accounts.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by his Special Adviser On Media, Enitan Olukotun on Friday.

Abiru, who is representing Lagos East Senatorial District at the Senate, further expanded the numbers of beneficiaries to accommodate additional 170 vulnerable individuals in the district.

The assistance scheme, which kicked off in January this year, was the fulfilment of the promise made by the Senator during the electioneering to provide succour to the poorest of the poor in the district.

Abiru disclosed that selected beneficiaries have been getting N5000 assistance bi-monthly since the beginning of the year and that it would run through the year by way of direct credit to their bank accounts.

The Senator promised to always prioritise policies and legislative agenda that will be of benefit to the greatest number of people.

He also urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the district to ensure peace during local government primary elections on Saturday.

The Senator appealed to party members to eschew conducts that could lead to violence during the exercise.
