The Publicity Secretary of Accord party in Oyo State, Dr Nureni Adeniran, has warned supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state against violence towards the party, following the outcome of the tribunal judgment on Tuesday.
Dr Adeniran made the call in Ibadan on Wednesday while reacting to the judgment of the governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. He spoke in a chat with WESTERN POST.
According to him, members of the ruling party did not need violence because after all the tribunal judgment favours them, appealing to Governor Ajimobi to call his supporters to order.
He also called on people of good conscience to call members of the APC to order so that things don’t go out of hands.
Reacting to the judgment delivered by the three-man panel led by Justice Mohammed Aliyu Mayaki, the Accord spokesperson said the party was not satisfied with the judgment.
He, however, hinted that the leadership of the party in the state would study the judgment to be able to decide on whether it would go to the Appeal Court to appeal the judgment.
In a swift reaction to the allegation of violence by his political party, the former caretaker chairman of Ibadan/ North West, Mr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, denied the knowledge of violence against members of the opposition, saying the ruling party couldn’t have resorted to violence after the party had been declared the winner of the election, saying that anybody making such allegation must have his head examined.
He then assured people of the state to be expecting more dividends of democracy from the governor.
