Activist Berates FG Over Planned Subsidy Removal

    By Richard Thomas, Ibadan

A Human Rights Activist in Ibadan, Mr. Kehinde Akinyemi has advised the Federal Government to come up with life-changing policies and measures that will have meaningful impacts on the downtrodden citizens of the country, instead of its plan to remove subsidy in 2022.

Akinyemi who decried the move by government described it as a huge scam adding that it will further bring hardship and impoverish Nigerians.

Speaking with journalists in Ibadan, he said government needs to focus more on how to improve the economy of the nation rather than making things worse by removing of subsidy.

“The Federal Government has long been deceiving Nigerians and making things worse for them with different unfriendly economic policies. I can tell you that this issue of subsidy removal is a scam.

“It is high time they  think on policies that will make the economy workable so that Nigerians can enjoy real dividends of democracy.

“I learnt there are some groups of cabals making the issues of the country look big and tough, they  are the people manipulating the system thereby creating unnecessary hardship for Nigerians for their selfish reasons.”

Akinyemi was of the opinion that President Muhammadu Buhari should focus on how to turn the economy around from 2022 in order to put smiles of the faces of the people.

According to him, Nigerians have not really enjoyed meaningful development since the current administration came on board six years ago other than creating fear and anxiety for the people through unfriendly policies.

Akinyemi called on Nigerians to open their eyes widely this time around in order not to be deceived by politicians who will not do the right thing when voted into office.

On security, the human rights activist berated the federal government for not doing enough to curb the menace, adding that people no longer sleep with their two eyes closed.
