Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, has vowed to make the Adeseun Ogundoyin Campus of Ibarapa Polytechnic to wear a new look and rank among the best in Nigeria.
The Speaker made the vow in his speech at a town hall meeting organised by National Orientation Agency (NOA), in conjunction with KONRAD ADENAUER held at the Eruwa Town Hall on Friday.
According to him, plans are on to re-brand the institution and make it wear a new look, change some of the laws and scope to make it rank one of the best in the country.
“By the time we finish work on the institution, you will marvel and be glad. We are going to work on some of the laws on the school, there is no point making too much of speech on it, after legislative works on it are completed we will refer it to the Executive for further action”.
“I will open my constituency office in both in Eruwa and Lanlate where your request and complaints will received attention”.
The Speaker who represents Ibarapa East State Constituency in the Assembly said the primary health sector, education, farm settlement and other areas of marked for development would receive adequate attention with a view to advancing and bring adequate and prompt dividend of democracy to the people of his constituency.
Hon Ogundoyin who assured the people of the state that government will distribute 50,000 books and chairs to schools before the end of this month said essence of the town hall meeting was to enable him interact with people of his constituency and identify their challenges and proffer necessary solutions.
“The programme is put together by NOA to orientate the people on the roles of the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary. The fundamental roles of the legislative is to make laws, carry out it oversight functions and check the executive arm of government among others.”
Hon. Ogundoyin while assuring that the Open rearing and grazing Bill sponsored by him would be passed into law before the month ending called for the cooperation and support of the people to enable him deliver more to dividends of democracy to them.
Speaking at the programme, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, His Royal Highness Oba Samuel Adegbola described the meeting as a welcome development, calling for the cooperation of the people with the Speaker and members of the Assembly.
In her welcome address, the state Director, NOA, Mrs Dolapo Dosunmu said the event which was at the instance of KONRAD ADENAUER STIFTUNG with the collaboration of her agency provides a veritable platform for the lawmakers to keep their constituents abreast of their activities through information sharing and also feel the pulse of the people on other areas to be improved upon in fulfilling of their social contracts with the constituent who accorded them the legitimacy to represent their interest as lawmakers.
