Lagos Lawmaker Donates 500 Educational Materials To Secondary School Students

The lawmaker representing Ifako/Ijaiye Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Temitope Adewale, has donated 500 educational materials to students of junior secondary schools in the constituency.

Adewale who made the donation through the ‘Temitope Adewale Adedeji Education Initiative (ATA-EI)’, said the support would help create a progressive, peaceful and egalitarian society.

Speaking at the event with the theme ‘Education: A Tool For Viable Development’, Adewale restated his commitment to the progress of his constituency as he also donated 150 chairs and desks to two schools.

“The distribution of these materials is in continuation of our dedication to education. We have given out 250 free GCE forms; 711 students benefitted from the free GCE tutorials; 1200 students benefitted from the free JAMB/UTME forms and 107 students secured admission through the ATA-EI. This is just a little out of what we have done,” he said.

Thanking Adewale for the gesture, Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, described him as a man with foresight.

Also commending the lawmaker, the Chairman of the Lagos Assembly Committee on Education, Hon. Ganiu Sanni Okanlawon, urged the students to strive for success as a way to repay the gesture.

The coordinator of ATA-EI, Kolawole Hassan, listed the achievements of the body to include scholarship for 28 students of various institutions.

He also said the ATA-EI had commenced campaigns against social vices in schools.

Hassan said the support from the organisation had helped to increase the literacy level in the constituency by six percent, projecting that the constituency would become the most educated in Nigeria by 2035.
