Ajimobi, 3 Other Govs to Grace Maiden Oyo NUJ Summit

Govs Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun) and Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), are respecfively expected to grace the maiden Summit of Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr. Oladele Ogunsola, the Chairman Planning Committee of the summit and made available to WESTERN POST in Ibadan on Saturday.

Also expected at the summit are the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, as well as other dignitaries drawn from the academia, journalism profession and other related critical sectors.

The statement added that Ajimobi was expected to declare the summit open, while Aregbesola, Amosun, Akeredolu and Mohammed are to deliver keynote addresses.

The summit with the theme ‘Journalists: Image and Professionalism,’is scheduled to hold from Tuesday, March 28, to Wednesday, March 29 at the Jogor Centre in Ibadan by 11am daily.

The statement further said that the summit was aimed at bringing members and stakeholders together to address various issues affecting the practice of the profession.

“This summit is aimed at repositioning the Oyo NUJ for a redirection and transformation into a body of professionals well equipped to meet the current challenges,” the statement read.

It stated that the summit was in line with the campaign promises of the union’s current administration led by Mr. Adewunmi Faniran.

The statement urged participants drawn from the various chapels of the union to be punctual in order to maximally benefit from it towards achieving the set objectives.
